"Hoy se puede afirmar que participamos en un periodo histórico nuevo, marcado por la más profunda y radical crisis del patrón de poder que emergió por la formación de América y Europa Occidental desde inicios del siglo XVI. En esa dirección, el Rectorado, el Centro de Investigación, el Instituto Peruano del Pensamiento Complejo Edgar Morin –IPCEM y la Cátedra “América Latina y la Colonialidad del Poder” de la Universidad Ricardo Palma organiza el Simposio Internacional “La cuestión de des/colonialidad y la crisis global”. Se discutirá, desde América Latina, las características de la crisis mundial; para ello, se examinará la teoría de la Colonialidad del Poder, la situación de América Latina (estado, nación, estados plurinacionales y movimiento sociales) y los procesos de la des/colonialidad . Este simposio se llevará a cabo los días 5, 6 y 7 de agosto del 2010 con la participación de académicos de primer nivel como: Aníbal Quijano (Perú), Augustín Lao-Montes (USA), Walter Mignolo (USA), Rita Laura Segato (Brasil), Edgardo Lander (Venezuela), Katherine Walsh (Ecuador), entre otros."
